LONDON, 2025 — Claritas Intelligence has published its global market report on disc rake liquid fertilizer spreaders, sizing the market at USD 1.21 billion in 2025 and projecting expansion to USD 1.8 billion by 2033 under the firm's base case, a compound annual growth rate of 5.2% over the 2025–2033 forecast horizon.

The single most consequential demand driver over the forecast period is the structural shift from uniform broadcast fertilizer application to GPS-linked variable-rate disc-opener delivery. EU CAP Eco-Scheme eligibility criteria now require documented precision application practices, while USDA NRCS cost-share programs (EQIP and RCPP) are actively subsidizing variable-rate application equipment in the United States. Satellite-derived NDVI prescription mapping, increasingly accessible via smartphone platforms, is lowering the agronomic expertise threshold for adoption among medium-scale operators — widening the addressable market beyond large commodity farms. Post-2022 structural elevation in nitrogen input costs reinforces the economics: disc-opener placement demonstrably reduces ammonia volatilization relative to broadcast urea, and the payback period on equipment investment is now calculable at the farmgate level. Among all farming practice segments, the Precision (GPS/Variable-Rate) segment carries the highest projected segment CAGR at 7.8% through 2033.

North America holds approximately 34% of global market share in 2025, anchored by large-scale corn-soy belt operations running variable-rate NPK programs across the US Midwest and Brazilian Cerrado. The Cereals & Grains crop segment leads at roughly 38% share, with maize and corn driving disproportionate liquid side-dress fertilizer demand. The near-term backdrop, however, is complicated: AGCO Corporation reported FY2025 revenue of USD 10.08 billion, down from USD 14.41 billion in FY2023, while Deere & Company's FY2025 revenue of USD 45.68 billion reflects a 25.6% contraction from its FY2023 peak of USD 61.25 billion. Elevated used-equipment inventory on dealer lots is deferring new-unit orders. The report's base case treats this as mean-reversion rather than secular contraction, with replacement cycles resuming as inventory clears.

Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing regional market in the report's base case, at a projected 6.4% CAGR. India's PM-KISAN scheme, reaching approximately 110 million farmer beneficiaries, is supporting small-mechanization co-investment alongside state-level Custom Hiring Centre subsidies. China's NDRC-supported fertilizer mechanization programs are similarly accelerating liquid application equipment uptake. The report also flags a counter-consensus finding: aftermarket retrofit kits for disc-opener liquid delivery systems on existing planters may generate a larger incremental total addressable market than new OEM unit sales through 2028, a segment the report asserts most market participants are currently underweighting.

"The equipment cycle correction is real and it is visible in every major OEM's revenue line, but it should not be read as a demand story. The underlying agronomic and regulatory case for precision liquid placement is structurally stronger today than it was at the 2023 peak. Operators who deferred purchases during the inventory correction are accumulating pressure to upgrade, and precision VRA adoption requirements are not going away." — Tanvi Kulkarni, Senior Analyst, Claritas Intelligence

The report covers leading market participants including AGCO Corporation, Deere & Company, CLAAS KGaA mbH, CNH Industrial N.V., Kubota Corporation, Bucher Industries AG, Ag-Chem Equipment Company, Landoll Corporation, Raven Industries, Hagie Manufacturing Company, Salford Group Inc., and Topcon Agriculture, with competitive profiles drawing on publicly filed financial data and proprietary demand-side modelling.
